Today we were blessed with sunshine. Determination set in and we trotted off at a pace to try and work out the busses.

We managed to buy tickets. Quite an accomplishment in itself. There are many bus companies hurtling around Salerno. We thought if we got back to the station we would ask at the tourist information kiosk. We did, and what a waste of words that was. Why people choose to work with the general public when they clearly dislike people is beyond me! Go be a market gardener or something. Rant over.
After a cup of coffee which I had to donate to travel buddy … far too strong for me, we set off to the old town.

We made our way to yet another duamo. Nothing could have prepared us for what we saw. Oh, and no tours, crowds, umbrella weilding guides or any other such distractions. We paid our old lady concessionary 8 euros and in we went.

The first impressions were amazing.

We thought this was all pretty spectacular, until we went down to the crypt.

So many stories from the new testament depicted. The whole ceiling and walls were covered. Breathtaking. One of favourites was this…

All cultured out, we set off to the harbour, found an Irish pub called Kings Cross! Of course we needed to partake of some liquid refreshment, sustenance was needed to find a bus stop. So we walked, and walked then walked some more, trying to just hop onto a bus along the ‘prom’. This was sort of achieved, but only did 2 stops before we were back! This means a very lot of walking was done today, so bonky hip and mythering back are very cross.

Tonight we are trying to figure out how to go to Pompei without joining the umbrella brigade.
