Italy…

That was a lot of stations and trains. Now on our Milan to Florence last bit. The connection at Milan was a dash, but seasoned travellers that we are we made it! Elbows out and all that!

We are thinking about demanding a refund on account of being mis sold a ‘sleeping’ cabin. Sure there were bunk beds, travel companion shot up onto the top bunk and began a series of dangling routines. We then divested ourselves of our day clothes and shocked the outskirts of Amsterdam as we struggled into our PJ’s. Never crossed my mind to pull the blind! Space is not at a premium. Many contortions were undertaken accompanied, of course, by cramp and a form of bunk bed dancing rarely seen. Performed with enthusiasm and vocal expletives as we tried to stretch out said cramped muscles.

We were comfy and warm, but sleep evaded us. Not least as travel buddy was convinced she would be propelled to the floor everytime we stopped. There were safety straps but these required an engineering degree to assemble. So we rested … until breakfast was served at 0630!

The thought of a proper beds tonight fills us with glee. Just a footnote. We practically had to mortgage our respective houses to pay for a visit to the ‘facilities’. Since when did ‘spending a penny’ cost over a pound! We were raging!

Next challenge is to find our accomodation. We have a plan …
