This is worrying! Clearly the cartographers need to get off their bottoms and go look at the actual swerves, curves and steps that are adding miles and miles to our route! I will accept that we had to deviate to the hotel but that was only a couple of miles.

Thank the stars above and all of the gods of everything, that travel companion introduced me to a new form of refreshment. It certainly helped for the last few miles which were very uphill. In fact I may need oxygen.

Lovely walk right next to the estuary most of the way. The water was like glass. Weather was lovely, no wind and hazy sunshine.

We looked on very enviously at the local Sunday 1030 ‘dookers’.

We saw many more seals and listened to them barking and howling. Thought it was the Hound of the Baskervilles at first and nearly took flight.

We also got involved with a lovely group of locals who were all out with binoculars because a humpbacked whale had been seen. Much excitement ensued phones at the ready, telescopic everything was carefully positioned. We were treated to a long distance glimpse of a moving ‘ripple’ which caused rapturous responses all around! The local notice board with sightings was duly updated. Travel companion and I set off again having politlely thanked all involved for including us in their enthusiasm. It was quite a moment!

So we walked and talked and trudged and puffed our way to Kirkcaldy.
Mrs Google very obligingly directed us UPHILL to our hotel. We are booked for 2 nights and that means a day off and a swim.
Lovely room with many beds to choose from and this…

The having of a bath after the uphilling is beyond description. Even a theasaurus can’t knock a word out that covers it!

Our UPHILL journey revealed this to us. The first sign with our destination on it.
So tommorrow we rest.
