Silver tops still wandering

Today we adventured to Penha Garcia, and Mrs Russell just couldn’t help herself. Seems now she realises that Jack Russells are equipped to swim and there is no stopping her.

She sure did choose a wonderful place to exercise her new found skill. With the temperature being well over 30 degrees it is just aswell she …or us aren’t water shy!

Even the ‘Mister’ went in. He thoroughly enjoyed it too. where as me … well I just couldn’t keep out.

What a wonderful place we found. We revelled in our ever so British picnic of cheese and tomato sandwiches, drank a couple of litres of chilled water and iced tea and had a day that we will remember until the little grey cells pack in working. How wonderful this all was I don’t have the vocabulary to set down in words. Just a very special day, filled with joy and absolute contentment.

Yesterday was similar … oh hang on …it was the day before. Yesterday we did absolutely nothing. Because we could, and after a life time of work and a lot of worry along the way we felt completely justified in our decision!

So we were here … here being Benquerenca. Another one of those rivers ‘managed’ into a swimming area, better even than the previously discovered one at Castelo Nuvo, bigger and actually very cold!

Too chilly for the locals … so I had it to myself. Really lovely setting and so quiet and peaceful.

Mrs Russell was a little reluctant at first, but then got the whole idea of the swimming thing. My hair really has gone that white. More like my mum now than she was!

My happy place. Apparently we are 80% water, in my case I think possibly 90%. There is no finer feeling in the world than being weightless in the water and feeling it wrap itself all around you. I swear if I could only bottle that feeling I coud bring so much joy to so many. I am blesssed.

About the title, well the swimming and sunshine has been well explained. But tonight I fried off an entrcote steak from Lidl, only cost about £5. Didn’t expect anything too fancy, but, oh my goodness me. Honestly one of the best steaks I have ever had, and enough for us both! I shall be making all haste back there to buy more. We are, of course, complete heathens as we had it with a cheeky chilled white! We don’t care!

We are just having the best time. I shall endeavour to bring you a posting about the flora and fauna next … who knew cork grew on trees? Mister has said those words again … you know how it goes … for an educated woman I am seriously lacking sometimes! Well who cares, he chose me!!!!!!
