It is all rather lovely down here. Somewhat alpine in nature I think, I have never been to the Alps so what would I know? The difference in the region can be seen in the archetecture and the geography, and unfortunately in the weather! Mountains do tend to attract rain!

We found our accomodation fairly easily and immediately rejoiced. There was a washing machine. As any would be traveller will tell you, this is indeed a thing of wonder and beauty. Much laundry was done and we emerged, smelling sweetly, and took ourselves off for a day out to the coast at Saint Jean de Luz, it was hot.

Of course there is only one thing to do in these circumstances

Swim! And that I did for about a mile across the bay, then I had to walk back. I would rather have swam than walked on the hot sand but can’t look for travel buddy with my face in the water.

Great swim, and then back to our gaff to do a blog with this tethering thing again in the 5g hot spot.

Supervised as always by Mrs. Russell.
Another day and off we went on an adventure to Biarritz. It was dull, wet and windy. Seems no two days are the same here. We managed to have a whale of a time though.

Sorry. Watched the local beach volley ball for a while. The girls don’t seem to wear very much whilst playing this. I guess this is to distract the opposition and also aid freedom of movement. Cannot believe that sand in all of the crevices isn’t a problem though. Don’t think I could ever have ‘dug’ ‘set’ or ‘smashed’ wearing so little. I would have been doing a worry about revelations too numerous to mention!

Deliberately no close up!

Found a really useful signpost and set off home to put the kettle on and drink hot tea.
Today we ventured in the other direction, one again in rain. I have set my size five feet down in a whole new country. Having never been to mainland Spain I found this all very exciting. We decided to check out San Sebastion and see if it warrants a stay on our return journey. Decision is, yes it certainly does.

We will return, hopefully in the sunshine.
Cheeers for now … still managing to find cheeky chilled white wherever I go.
