Ahhhh to be back in Amsterdam. Disembarking and trotting along the concourse into the lovely blue skies, sunshine and of course the ever present aroma of spliff. We very nearly caused yet another international incident by not geting out of the way quickly enough after hearing the cry of ‘police, police, make way’. I had forgotten that the police use push bikes. They really should have ‘nee naws’ fitted.

A little trot down Waarmastrat, just for old times sake. Not as sleazy as it once was, definitely improving. A visit to Belushis to see a very very special one, lots of squeezes and hugs and trying to catch up years in minutes.

Look at this for a shower. Very posh hotel, the Art Hotel in Westerpark. We could have had a party in there. No sign of the shower snake of Bratislavia or any distant relative. Only thing was … the pool was closed. Once again thwarted. We have dragged our swimming costumes around nine countries and hardly worn them …. except as underwear …. too much infomation.

Travel buddy, not convincingly pointing a toe. We have been watching and learning the posers, instagrammers and tiktokers. Seems you have to point a toe at the time of the shutter snapping. This particular skill is currently work in progress. We hope to bring you better attempts on our next trip, there will be ‘a next trip’.

Quite a fitting view for a couple of senior inter-raillers on our last night. Only thing is, this picture was taken through the window whilst in the bath. I know we were four floors up, and anything goes in Amsterdam. But I could have been sued for shocking the railway workers into an early finish.

An evening sailing from Rotterdam, and an upgraded cabin. A lovely meal in the restaurant, involving a cheeky chilled white, of course, and that was it.

And that, my friends, is it. How blessed are we?
We have had the most wonderful adventure, feeling very proud and accomplished. It is no mean feat carrying your rucksacks around nine countries, and navigating our way through railway stations and timetables, not to mention finding our accomodation in the far flung corners of the various cities and towns. It has gone by too quickly. Already planning another one. Fancy thinking that this would quell my wanderlust, it has just made me ten times worse, and worryingly I have a very willing partner in crime. We are thinking …. maybe Italy …. we did so love Italy.
Thank you to all of you who have followed us and for your kind comments. Do stay tuned, I am off on my travels next week to Scotland, and then when I return, off to Europe again. Got to keep on doing…
