We are here. And so is half the population of Germany and the rest of the world. Yes folks we have done it again. Who knew that Germany celebrated Ascension Day with such dedication that it has a National Holiday? Europe has a National Holiday at the drop of a hat it would seem. Any road up, we made all haste to the marathon calender expecting to get our shorts on yet again, only to find that happens in September.
I am sorry to report that we nearly caused yet another international incident. We once again had a spot of bother getting into our accomodation. Not quite what we were expecting. For ‘hotel’ read bedroom in somebodies apartment. We had unwittingly tried to break into the neighbours appartment. She appeared with a very large dog and an equally large voice. The dog was docile enough, but my oh my, the lady was terrifying. We backed off bowing like a couple of Japanese geishas, not easy in our backpacks and were rescued by our host

It was very hot today. We managed to Google Map ourselves to the centre, I am quite sure we will graduate to ‘apparating’ like Harry Potter soon. We people watched for a while. Jane was just waiting for the right moment to play in the fountain. It never came so we had to make do with what was one of the worst museum visits I have ever had. We both donned our headphones and politely tried to look intrested in the exhibits. There are only so many headless, armless, statues of greek mythological persons, usually missing all manner of unmentionable appendages, that any one person can honestly find interesting. We did get to see the inside of a magnificent building though. Rather alarmingly we have ‘free’ entry to three other museums with our transport ticket, but we decided to go home and rest.

So here are some pictures from Alexandraplatza. Very touristy and not that inspiring, such a contrast after Prague. Ahhhh beautiful Prague, we mss you. So sorry I moaned about the strawberry and flat white rip off now. Berlin is so very expensive. Intrepid travellers that we are becoming, we have managed to dine out very sucessfully by getting off the beaten track, and of course we have manged to source cheeky chilled whites wherever we roam. A skill finely honed.
We think Berlin is for the younger generations. Lots of clubs and stuff like that, not our scene at all. But what we have found is a place to swim tomorrow, in a big park. So thats how we will spend the day. We will report our findings…
