Prague.

We have arrived in Prague and I am very proud to announce an addition to my skill set. It is the sucessful use of the BOLT taxi app. There is something quite thrilling watching your requested taxi making its way to transport you to the railway station in the pouring rain. They tell you what car it is, the registration number and even a picture of your driver. No money changes hands so no getting ripped off. We are now planning to taxi it to and from all the railway stations to our hotels. Thing is, we only have one more to go!

This is a truly magnificent city. But look at all of those people. We have done it again. Arrived in what will always be a busy city, but we have landed in the busiest area on what is probably their busiest weekend. It is a National Holiday again, and it is marathon day … again. This happened in Verona too. I asked Jane if she fancied a shimmey around the winding streets and along the river in her shorts and vest top, surprisingly she declined. Of course I can not partake, ‘stroppy hip’ wouldn’t hear of it! ‘Dodgy knees’ buckle at the thought. We’ll watch and make encouraging noises.

Anyways, we have been putting our penguins in order, and planning how to spend the next couple of days. We have got tangled up in a few stag and hen dos, but came away without the compulsory head dress and flashing hair bands. We have seen some boys dressed in some intresting apparel, we refained from comments and kept our eyes forward. The magnificence of the old town and the breath taking architecture is contrasted by the singing of songs from the Irish Bar. Sadly the willingness of some traders to rip off a couple of oldies but goodies over a couple of flat whites does rather taint the experience, but then I suppose it goes with the territory. We think a river cruise might be a good idea.

Our plan today was to ride around on trams. It seems we get to go free on public transport, being of a certain vintage. The girlie at the tourist information didn’t seem thrilled when we asked the question about free travel. Kind of makes up for the flat whites though. Karma and all that. We got off the first one and as per usual walked instead. Another addition to our skill set is Google maps. No more 180 degree errors, or in the case of Bratislavia we actually managed a 360 degree error. If we can navigate ourselves around here I am pretty confident we can do Berlin. but first, lets see what the next couple of days brings us, apart from more ice cream …
