Silver tops still wandering

In a few weeks Travelling Buddy and I are off again. We have our Senior 1st Class Global Interrail passes, charged up hip flasks (Bushmills), a rough plan and enough sass to easily negotiate Italy. Got to be a breeze after 9 countries in 4 weeks right?

Also in a reluctant nod to our combined ages now being 146, we have shelved the huge rucksacks and chosen a ‘wheelie’ option for this one. Remembering our valiant achievements on the long distance walk around the Fife Coast last year with backpacks, and the subsequent need for hot baths and wine, we will only be carrying day packs…with swimming costumes at the ready, as always!

We have a new game to play, aswell. It is called ‘How to negotiate sleeper trains’.

I know sleeping in luggage racks was all the thing back in the day. But ‘elf ‘n’ safety has been invented now. We are excited to see how this sleeping compartment malarkey pans out.

Our 1st leg will be an amazing achievement if we pull it off! From Beverley in East Yorkshire to Zurich, all within the permitted one day use on our pass. Travelling Buddy has been down a research rabbit hole…we get on our sleeper from Amsterdam at 8.30pm. So from 6.00am to Kings Cross, Eurostar to Amsterdam, then Night Train to Milan.
