We Did It!

The End!

How come the last two miles feel like twenty? But there we are. Bridge to bridge.

Travel companion completed her first long distance walk at 68 years young. This was my first and I am 68. Not sure I will go on to do the miles she has under her belt but at 76 I think she is amazing. We have slipped, supped, sloshed and snickered our way over the 83 official miles and the 20 or so extras ! Upping and downing, giggling and groaning! One step at a time.

Kinshandy Sands

Our last trek was from Tentsmuir forest to the Tay Bridge. Much of which we did through sand dunes. The ‘point’ is still showing the devaststion caused by storm Owen a few years ago. So many trees were lost.

Tide well out. Tay Estuary
Tayport Harbour.
Old habour and train link for the ferries.
Yayyyyy!
Is it a mirage?

So having upset stroppy knees and bonky hip beyond any reconciliation we are resting.

We completed this walk in 9 walking days interspaced with 3 very well earned  rest days. Got wet only once, but it was very wet indeed. We squelched into Aberdour!

This has been a wonderful experience, which was over a year in the planning.  Resolve, determination, stamina, strength in both mind and body have been tested. Friendships deepened and memories made. How blessed and lucky I am.

Final nod to our ‘support staff’.

Now, just to mention, we are both in possesion of interailing tickets again ….bought in the flash sale. More planning…more wine! More adventures with Number 1 travelling buddy.
